Trophy Winners
Each year at the Friends of Scottish Rugby Annual General Meeting two quaiches are presented to up and coming players. The Sir Tommy Macpherson quaich is presented to the most promising young player at London Scottish FC, whilst the Sir Willie Purves quaich is presented to the young player most likely to make it into the National Team.
In March 2019 we introduced the Lady Jean Macpherson Women's Trophy which is presented to the most aspiring female Scottish player.
Friends of Scottish Rugby Trophy winners have gone on to enjoy great careers and many have made it into the National Team, winning over 500 caps and scoring nearly as many points! Between them they have also represented Scotland in all age groups and the 7s countless times.

Lady Jean Macpherson Women's Trophy:

Rhona Lloyd
DOB 17 October 1996

First taking up rugby at Tynecastle High School, Rhona lloyd worked her way through the age grades, captaining Murrayfield Wanderers U18 to victory in the Brewin Dolphin Cup, playing sevens for Scotland Women U19 and on to Scotland Women U20 in season 2013/14.
She made her full international debut against England in the 2016 Six Nations opener at Broadwood Stadium and has started in every match since.
Lloyd scored her first international try in the 2016 Six Nations finale against Ireland in Dublin and her second in the Rugby World Cup qualifier against Spain in Madrid in November 2016.
The wing contributed to Scotland Women's 15-14 win against Wales in the 2017 Six Nations with a second-half try.
She studied biomedical sciences at the University of Edinburgh - for whom she also played - and, outside rugby was in the top 100 in the UK at the 60m sprint. Her dad plays for charity side, the Pigbarians and Thebans.
She is currently studying a Masters degree at Loughborough University and is playing for Tyrells Premier XVs club Loughborough Lightning.

Jamie Ritchie

Edinburgh back-row Jamie Ritchie became the 1093rd player to represent Scotland when he started the national team's 48-10 win over Canada on the 2018 Summer tour.
He made his second appearance off the bench in the final game of the tour against Argentina in Resistencia and played in all four further Test matches that year.
Ritchie scored his first try for Scotland against Fiji in the 2018 Autumn Tests and started in four of Scotland’s five 2019 Guinness Six Nations matches.
He won plaudits, and two more caps, at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
Flanker Ritchie signed a senior deal with Edinburgh aged just 17, after continually impressing as part of the Scotland age-grade set-up, and played a key role in Heriot's dramatic title win against Melrose in 2015.
The former Scotland U20 captain came off the bench to make his senior team debut for Edinburgh in Dublin against Leinster in the Guinness PRO12 match in October 2014.

James Malcolm
DOB 23 September 1994

A former Glasgow Warrior, Malcolm, amassed twenty-five appearances during his time in Glasgow. For the 2018/19 season, like captain Lewis Wynne, he was on a season-long loan with fellow Greene King IPA Championship side Doncaster Knights.
The former Scotland Under 20 began his rugby career with Ayr and was part of the Scottish Rugby Elite Development Programme, before signing his first pro deal with the Warriors in 2016.
In February 2018, Malcolm was called up to the Scotland senior squad in preparation for the 2018 Six Nations.
The powerful hooker is already fairly well acquainted with the Club as he came to our 2019 Burns Supper as a guest of current players Lewis Wynne and Bobby Beattie.
James has changed disciplines and now plays for the Dallas Jackals in Major League Rugby - he gained 12 Scotland under-20 caps in 2013 and 2014.

Rachel McLachlan
DOB 26 January 1999

Rachel McLachlan, a former Scottish Judo Champion and Sainsbury's School games Judo Champion, began playing rugby when she started at Glasgow Caledonian University. The physiotherapy student also played for West of Scotland RFC before making the move to Stirling County in 2018
McLachlan received her first cap for Scotland in the 7s in Paris against Poland and Russia. Her first XVs cap came in 2018 against Italy away where she came off the bench. 4 weeks later, when Scotland played Canada at Scotstoun, McLachlan was in the starting XV.

Darcy Graham

Darcy Graham, made his Scotland debut when he took the field as replacement during Scotland's autumn test match against Wales in 2018.
When playing with his junior club Hawick Wanderers, Darcy won the U18 National Youth League Bowl, having been a runner-up in the Cup competition at under-16 level with Hawick Albion, the previous year.

Lewis Wynne
DOB 27 November 1996

Wynne represented Scotland Under 16s in 2012 and 2013and received his first Scotland Under 20 cap against France in 2015.
In December 2016 it was announced that Wynne had been promoted out of the Scottish Rugby Academy securing a two and a half year deal with Glasgow Warriors.
He moved on loan to London Scottish for season 2018-19. He played 9 games before being recalled by the SRU.
Lewis is currently playing for Jersey - He received his first Scotland Under 20 cap in 2015, playing against France and represented Scotland Under 16s in 2012 and 2013.

Matt Fagerson

The younger brother of Scotland international Zander, Matt Fagerson made his Warriors debut in the 2016/17 pre-season fixture vs Canada 'A', scoring a try in the process.
A physical back-rower, Matt has represented Scotland at U16 and U18 level and plays his club rugby for Glasgow Hawks. He was named in the BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy Stage 3 Player list for the 2016/17 season.
Matt represented Scotland under-20s in the 2017 World Rugby under-20s Championship in Georgia, helping the team finish fifth.

Isaac Miller
DOB 21st June 1994

Isaac began his rugby at Stewart’s Melville College in Edinburgh, where he progressed through to play in the 1st XV in his final year of school. He was a member of the squad that won the Scottish Schools Cup at U18 level.
He went on that year to represent Edinburgh in the U18 development pathway. Leaving school, Isaac played for Currie RFC in the Scottish Club Premiership. He then travelled south to Loughborough University, where he played for 4 years, in his final year Captaining the University side in the English National League 1.
Whilst at University Isaac also had the opportunity to represent Scotland U 20's and and captained the team t the U 20 World Cup he also represented the English Students side, which he captained in games against Ireland and France. On graduating from University Isaac joined London Scottish, where he has ran out for the club 17 times that season.
He now plays at Worcester in the English Premiership.

Magnus Bradbury

A former pupil of Oban High School, Magnus secured a scholarship to study at Merchiston Castle School, during which time he made his Scotland
under-18 international debut, coming off the bench against England in March 2013 and making the starting XV in the victories over Ireland and
Wales. He represented Glasgow at under-16 and under-17 levels, Edinburgh at under-18 and Scotland at under-17 and under-18.
His international under-20 debut came against the Irish in Athlone, in January 2014 and he scored his first try against Argentina in the final
play-off game in the 2014 Junior World Championship in Auckland.
He took on captaincy duties for the the 2015 Six Nations Championship, leading Scotland to a 17-10 defeat of Ireland in the final game of series.
Magnus was selected for his second World Rugby Under-20 Championship (formerly the Junior World Championship), in 2015, and started in four of
the five ties.

Ally (Alastair) Miller

Ally Miller is one of the players to be placed with London Scottish FC as part of the Performance Partnership with the Scottish Rugby Union.
He is a three times winner of the Scottish Schools Brewin Dolphin Cup with George Watson’s College – once at under-16 in 2011, a side in which
he captained, and twice at under-18 in 2012 and 2013 when he, again, skippered the side.
The back-row also captained Edinburgh's Under 20 side, and the George Watson's College Scottish Schools Cup winning sides of 2011, 2012 and
2013.
He was part of the Scotland U20 squad that recorded the team's highest ever finish at the World Rugby Under-20 Championship (8th) in 2015
and 2016. Ally has also played for Scotland at under-16 and under-18 levels, and led the under-19 group who took on Australia Schools and
Romania in the 2013/2014 season.
Now playing for Edinburgh, Ally was in the Scotland 7s core squad for the first time ahead of the 2018/19 season and was called to the Scotland 7s squad for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Australia’s Gold Coast.

Mark Bennett

As 2015 World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year nominee, Mark Bennett broke into the international stage due to exciting performances for Glasgow Warriors and Scotland 7s. He represented Scotland four times at under-18 level and 17 times at under-20 level, and captained the Glasgow under-18 and under-16 teams.
He started every RBS 6 Nations Championship match in 2015 and gave some fine displays with two tries against Italy at home in the BT Murrayfield stadium and against England at Twickenham. Bennett won a place in the Scotland squad for the 2015 Rugby World Cup during which he scored three tries in four appearances - two in the opening match against Japan and a third in quarter-final against Australia.

George Horne

George Horne was one of the inductees for season 2015-16 at the new academy structure for Scottish Rugby. Coming through the school set up, Horne was a pupil at Bell Baxter High School before moving to Strathallan School.
Horne has played for Howe of Fife and Currie and represented Scotland at Under 17, Under 19 and Under 20 levels. His father is the coach at Howe of Fife Rugby. His brother is the Glasgow Warriors centre and Scotland international Peter Horne.
Horne made his debut for Glasgow Warriors in a friendly match against the British Army Rugby Union side on 25 September 2015. In a 71-0 victory for the Warriors, Horne came off the bench to grab a try. In November, 2015, he was loaned to London Scottish, by Glasgow Warriors, to gain more experience of playing professional rugby.
George is now back at Glasgow Warriors - He has Scotland representative honours at first XV, U17, U19 and U20, and has also represented his region, Caledonia, at all age-grade levels.

Finn Russell

In 2011 Finn helped Stirling County Colts win the under-18 National Youth Cup and in 2013 it was announced he was a recipient of the MacPhail Scholarship to travel to New Zealand to develop his game. He signed a two-year professional contract with the Glasgow Warriors, from the 2014/15 season, after coming through the Scottish Rugby Elite Development Programme.
Finn became Scotland's 1056th capped player when he made his debut against the USA on the first match of Scotland's 2014 summer tour. It capped an excellent season for Russell who fought off fierce competition to become first choice stand-off at Glasgow Warriors on their run to the PRO12 final. He made his first appearance at BT Murrayfield for Scotland in the 41-31 win against Argentina in November 2014.

Alec Coombes

The 18-year-old former Bath Academy player was part of Millfield School's highly successful Sevens team last season which dominated the national circuit, culminating in victory in the prestigious Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens tournament.
Alec signed for London Scottish on an Academy contract in September 2014, after impressing in his pre-season trials at the Richmond based club. He opened his Scotland under-20 scoring account in style, covering over 60 metres, in a mesmerising run, to cross the whitewash in the last minute of the 45-0 defeat of Italy in the 2015 Six Nations Championships.
Alec Coombes is now at Glasgow Warriors - He started in all 10 of Scotland under-20s' games in the 2014/15 season.

Tommy Spinks

Young flanker Tommy Spinks is one of the rising stars of London Scottish. A native of Edinburgh, he captained East Lothian at U14, U15 and U16 levels, Edinburgh at U17 and U18 and was captain of the Fettes School 1st XV. The 1.93mtr back-row was called into the Scotland U20 side in January 2013 for their RBS 6 Nations campaign and he followed that by representing his country at the 2013 IRB Junior World
Championship in France. Primarily a flanker, Spinks is also adept in the second row and he made his first start for London Scottish in the final game of the 2012/13 season at Rotherham. A natural athlete, Spinks was National Bronze medal discus champion as well as Edinburgh discus champion.
Tommy went on to play for Jersey and Glasgow Hawks, he is now player coach at Glasgow Accies - Spinks has played for the Scotland under 18s, under 20s and ClubXVs. He captained the under-20 national side at the Under-20 Rugby World Cup in 2014.

Jonny Gray

Jonny Gray joined the Warriors as a Scottish Rugby Elite Development player in the summer of 2012 after a number of standout displays for Hamilton and Scotland under-20. The younger brother of former Glasgow favourite Richie Gray, Jonny spent a period of time before his arrival at the Warriors training and playing in New Zealand, having been named as one of the recipients of the 2012 John Macphail Scholarship.
He was called up to the Scotland U20 set-up at the age of 17 in 2012 and was made captain when he returned to the national age-grade squad in 2013 for the RBS 6 Nations. In the summer of 2013 he signed a three year deal with the Warriors and in November of the same year made his full Scotland debut during the Autumn Tests, after an impressive start to the 2013/14 season. Jonny made his RBS 6 Nations debut for Scotland in February 2014, as a substitute against England.
In winning the Sir Willie Purves Quaich, Jonny is making FoSR history as his brother Richard (Richie) Gray won it in 2009 and this is the first time we've had brothers winning a Quaich.
